During the 2011 cholera crisis, UNICEF Mali asked me to work with technicians from their water and sanitation programme to create seven short advocacy videos that would teach children about how to avoid getting cholera and how to practice good hygiene.

Rather than making documentary videos, I made several scripted fiction videos and got children and teachers from a village to join in the project and act in the stories. This made it easier for children to relate to and created behavior change. The films were screened on national television, as well as in various schools throughout the country. They had to be translated into various languages specific to different audiences.
